06 Feb Welcome to National Children’s Dental Health Month
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. At H.A.B. Dental in Boynton Beach, we think every month is a great opportunity to focus on the importance of good dental hygiene in children, but we welcome the opportunity to join with and countless other dentists in Florida from Boynton Beach to the Panhandle and across the country to shine the light on the dental health of our children!
National Children’s Dental Health Month is nothing new. It has roots that stretch all the way back to 1941, when dental professionals in Cleveland, Ohio, held a one-day event on Feb. 3. The first national celebration was organized by the American Dental Association (ADA) eight years later. It remained just a single day on the calendar until 1955, when it was expanded to a week. Forty years after Cleveland got the ball rolling, it was decided that it would take more than a week to highlight the importance of our kids’ dental health so, under the ongoing auspices of the ADA, the first National Children’s Dental Health Month was observed in 1981.
National Children’s Dental Health Month 2020
In honor of the 75th anniversary of community water fluoridation, the theme for this year’s observance is “Fluoride in water prevents cavities! Get it from the tap!”
Because of the amazing impact community water fluoridation has had on the number of cavities dentists like our own xxx see in patients young and old, the Centers for Disease Control
(CDC) named community water fluoridation one of the 10 greatest public health achievements of the 20th century.
Drinking fluoridated water – a practice that has research has proven to be safe and effective – keeps young teeth strong and prevents tooth decay. Not only has this resulted in significantly fewer cavities both in children and adults, it has also allowed families, like those in Boynton Beach who trust the H.A.B. Dental team with the care of their children’s dental health, to save money.
If you have questions about your child’s dental healthy, please contact us. Dr. Rosemary Baghdassarian practices a special kind of dentistry in our Boynton Beach, FL dental clinic. We call it “dentistry with a hug” – and it will soon be available at the new H.A.B. Dental office in Boca Raton!
