Top Tips for Keeping Teeth White

Research indicates that almost half of us think that the most memorable thing about meeting someone is their smile. (If you were to poll everyone here at H.A.B. Dental in Boynton Beach, Florida, that percentage would probably be significantly higher!) Only about a quarter of people you meet are likely to think the first thing that you say is what’s going to make you memorable.

It can’t hurt to work up some witty opening lines, but if you want to make a good first impression, your time will probably be better spent making sure your smile is its best and brightest. And we just happen to know a dentist in Boynton Beach, Florida who can help you take care of your smile!

H.A.B. Dental offers a number of cosmetic dentistry services at its Boynton Beach offices, including:

  • Bleaching/whitening
  • Implants
  • Porcelain veneers
  • Straightening and aligning

Of course, the best way to keep your smile shining bright is to keep your pearly whites, well, pearly.

Tips for Keeping Teeth White

As the experts at WebMD explain, “Whitening treatments don’t permanently whiten teeth. If you expose your teeth to foods and beverages that cause staining you may see the whiteness start to fade in as little as 1 month after treatment. Those who avoid foods and beverages that stain may be able to wait one year or longer before another whitening treatment or touch-up is needed.”

To keep your teeth white, they recommend the following:

  • Avoid eating or drinking things that stain your teeth, such as coffee, tea and red wine. “If you do choose to consume beverages that stain, consider using a straw so that the liquid bypasses your front teeth,” they offer.
  • If you can’t go without your morning coffee (we hear you!), all is not lost. “Brush or rinse immediately after consuming stain-causing beverages or foods,” WebMD says.
  • And, of course, don’t forget to keep up with good daily oral hygiene.
