HAB Dental Encourages You to Feast on Fall Colors

If you’re looking for a dentist in Boynton Beach, Florida, that means you’ve left the land of fall colors behind. Here in South Florida, you’ll need to look for other signs to mark the changing of the seasons. If you pay attention, you’ll notice that the days are getting shorter and the humidity is dropping. If you’re sitting in the waiting room at of HAB Dental, known as one of Boynton Beach’s top dental practices, you may also notice that the snowbirds have returned.

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) points out, however, there are certain fall colors you can enjoy even if you’re part of the HAB Dental family in Boynton Beach.  If you’re shopping at Publix or one of the local green markets, it will be easy to spot a colorful array of fall produce. Eating a healthy diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables is important to good oral health.

Among the fall produce picks recommended by AND are:

  • Parsnips, which are cousins to carrots, are packed with fiber (3 grams) and contains more than 10 percent of the daily values of vitamin C and folate. “Try these pale beauties roasted, pureed into soup or mashed,” AND recommends. “You can even top a shepherd’s pie with mashed parsnips instead of the traditional mashed potatoes!”
  • Cranberries offer a wealth of nutritional benefits, so don’t wait for Thanksgiving to enjoy them. “Fresh and dried cranberries pair well with a variety of meats and poultry. Fresh cranberries can be eaten raw but often are cooked. Dried cranberries are delicious in grain and vegetable salads and make a healthy snack on the go,” according to AND.
  • Beets are a great way to celebrate fall color! You might be familiar with red beets, but there are other interesting varieties, including golden or bull’s blood, which has a bullseye pattern of rings. “Beets are edible from their leafy greens down to the bulbous root. The leaves are similar to spinach and are delicious sautéed,” AND says.

Boynton Beach dentist Dr. Rosemary Baghdassarian, who heads up the amazing team at HAB Dental, says that fresh vegetables and fruits offer endless health benefits. If you have questions about the connection between a healthy diet and oral health or any other aspect of family or cosmetic dentistry in the Boynton Beach area, the professionals at HAB Dental are here to help.
